With less than a month before he squares up against Zimbabwean Beaven Sibanda, Mdantsane boxer Siyakholwa Kuse is already in Johannesburg preparing for the fight.
And as promised by his manager Mlandeli Tengimfene last month, Kuse left the Eastern Cape for Gauteng to continue with his preparations for the Friday, 6 December fight against Sibanda at the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni.
The reigning South African minimumweight champion, who faces Sibanda in a World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver strawweight title, flew out of East London for Johannesburg on Sunday afternoon.
He was accompanied by former world champion Zolani ‘Last Born’ Tete, erstwhile SA featherweight titlist Azinga Fuzile and Mthokozisi Ngxaka, who will be with him in Johannesburg.
“It’s Zolani, Kuse, Azinga and Ngxaka. They are going to remain in Johannesburg until after the fight,” Tengimfene, who also travelled to Johannesburg, confirmed.
Ngxaka, who is the current Eastern Cape minimumweight champion, is going to be Kuse’s sparring main partner as they prepare for the fight. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
