Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile reckons that it’s unfair for anyone to believe that he’s going to Kazakhstan like a lamb to the slaughter as he faces an unbeaten Kazakh boxer Sultan Zaurbek next month.

After seeing Zaurbek’s impressive record, some boxing followers are of the view that Fuzile is going to the Kazakhstan just to honour his fight contract for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Continental junior-lightweight title contest.

Fuzile clashes with Zaurbek, who has stopped 13 of his 19 victims, at Barys Arena in Astana on Saturday, 5 April.

“It’s been great training here. I’m almost there,” the 28-year-old former South African featherweight champion remarked.

On facing Zaurbek away, Fuzile said: “Who has he beaten? Look at the people he has beaten and then look at me. I should never be compared to the boxers he beat. Nobody must look down on me, I know what I can do. I’m going there to win even though I know it’s not gonna be an easy fight.”

The fact that the 28-year-old Zaurbek is rated fifth by the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and is third in the World Boxing Association (WBA) ratings doesn’t bother Fuzile as he believes that a win will take him to world ratings.

“You must remember that he’s rated. I want those ratings and being rated will get me closer to a world title fight,” Duncan Village-born Fuzile said. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
