Bafana Bafana’s journey at the 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament ended in defeat as they were beaten 1-0 by co-hosts Canada in a last-32 match at the Los Angeles Stadium in California, United States of America (USA) on Sunday evening, South African time.
Canada midfielder and captain Stephen Eustáquio scored the all-important goal in stoppage time to send Bafana packing from the World Cup finals.
This was the first time ever that Bafana reached the knockout stages of the World Cup tournament in four attempts. They bombed out in the group stages during the 1998, 2002 and 2010 tournaments.
