KwaZulu-Natal Premier Division side, Durban City, announced the appointment of Eric Tinkler as their new head coach on Thursday afternoon.
The 56-year-old Tinkler returned to KwaZulu-Natal to plug the gap, which was created by the departure of Tunisian-born coach, Khalil Ben Youssef.
Tinkler, who left Ghanaian club Asante Kotoko last month, once worked with City owner, Farook Kadodia, at Maritzburg United between 2019 and 2020. Maritzburg United changed their name to Durban City after relocating to the Banana City.
“I’m excited to be part of what is being built here at Durban City FC. The club is very ambitious, they have made positive strides in a short space of time, competing in the CAF Confederation Cup already, and that made my decision easy,” Tinkler said.
Tinkler’s first match is going to be a Durban derby against AmaZulu at the Chatsworth Stadium on Tuesday next week.
