Mamelodi Sundowns became the first team to advance to the semi-finals of the Carling Knockout Cup after they beat Lamontville Golden Arrows 1-0 at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Tuesday evening.

After the two sides had failed to score in the first 45 minutes, Bafana Bafana forward, Iqraam Rayners, netted the Tshwane giants’ winning goal in the 69th minute following a pass from Antonio van Wyk. Interestingly, Rayners and Van Wyk were once teammates at Cape Winelands side, Stellenbosch FC.
