Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile’s decision to move up from junior-lightweight to lightweight has ruffled a few feathers. And in the process the decision has resulted in Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan terminating his management contract with Fuzile.

That Fuzile decided to move up without informing Rumble Africa Promotions (RAP) and Nathan accelerated his divorce from the Johannesburg-based trainer. “He’s no longer my problem now. I’m turning my back because I can’t work with those guys. Mzamo (Njekanye) is dismissive of everything I do. Let him get Azinga another title shot. I wish them both all the best. I have no hard feelings,” Nathan said. Nathan’s contract with the 25-year-old former South African featherweight champion was set to expire in September this year.

Meanwhile, Fuzile’s trainer Mzamo ‘Chief’ Njekanye is happy now that the Duncan Village boxer is no longer contracted to Nathan. “This is good news. This is what I have always wanted. I have been pushing for this and we have won now. That’s the best move that Colin has taken,” Njekanye said. Fuzile, who lost to Japanese boxer Kenichi Ogawa in a vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-lightweight title fight in November last year, said: “I’m very happy with this. Chief is going to become my manager now.”
