Bloemfontein Celtic coach John Maduka has blamed sloppy defending for their 4-3 loss to AmaZulu at King’s Park in Durban on Tuesday afternoon.
Maduka believes two of Usuthu’s goals came as a result of sloppy defending something which meant they returned to Mangaung empty handed.
Usuthu’s Tapelo Xoki scored a brace with Augustine Mulenga and Siyethemba Sithebe scoring the other two goals while Harris Tchilimbou netted a brace for Celtic and Victor Letsoalo scored the other goal.
“The game started a bit slow. We conceded a very sloppy goal, we should have defended better. After that we started playing well and looked dangerous even before we equalised. Second half again we conceded a sloppy goal,” Maduka said.
“It’s very disappointing that we lost the game. If you score three goals you should win the game.”
The former Mthatha Bucks and Celtic midfielder has also decried poor officiating during their matches after referee Abongile Tom awarded Usuthu a penalty even though Mulenga was brought down outside the box.
“They were given a penalty. From where I was standing it looked like it was outside. Some decisions are going against us. We are victims of bad officiating. It’s just unfortunate that so many games we have been victims of bad officiating,” he said.
