Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile is itching for action as he’s yet to don his gloves since his loss to Japanese boxer Kenichi Ogawa in November last year.
Fuzile, a vastly-talented southpaw and a world title hopeful, has revealed that he’s working very hard at the gym with the hope of getting a fight.
However, getting a fight seems easier said than done as Fuzile has revealed that he’s yet to sit down with his promoters Rumble Africa Promotions (RAP) since he returned home from the United States following the loss to Ogawa in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-lightweight title contest.
“We are training very hard even though we don’t have a fight coming up. It’s just that we want to stay fit,” Fuzile remarked.
Soon after losing to Ogawa in the United States, Fuzile moved up a division from junior-lightweight to lightweight, a decision which resulted in his former manager Colin Nathan terminating his management contract with him in January.
“I have not changed my decision to move up to the lightweight division. This is the division I believe I will be comfortable fighting in going forward,” the 25-year-old Fuzile said.
The former South African featherweight champion has insisted that he would love to fight soon in order to avoid getting ring rust.
Meanwhile, Fuzile’s trainer Mzamo ‘Chief’ Njekanye, who was in his corner in his fights against Ogawa and Martin Ward last year, has reiterated that he’s now the boxer’s manager.
“I’m Azinga’s manager whether people like it or not. I’m going to take care of his career. He’s my boxer, period,” Njekanye said.
