Award-winning boxing trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan is working towards getting his boxer Simphiwe ‘Chain Reaction’ Konkco back into world ratings.
Konkco returned to action with a polished performance, outpointing Filipino boxer Ariston Aton in a 10 rounds bout at the Sun City Superbowl in Rustenburg on Saturday.
This was Konkco’s first fight since losing to former World Boxing Council (WBC) minimumweight champion Chayaphon Moonsri, who is also known as Wanheng Menayothin, in October 2019.
“The next step and ultimate goal is to get him back into the ratings. We want him to fight for a world title again,” Nathan, the chief trainer at Hot Box Gym in Johannesburg, said.
Tsolo-born Konkco is a former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) and South African minimumweight champion. His inactivity resulted in him losing his rating in all world bodies and even the IBO does not rate him in its top 100 in the minimumweight division.
