Lamontville Golden Arrows cruised to a 3-1 win over Stellenbosch FC in a DStv Premiership match at the Danie Craven Stadium in the Cape Winelands on Friday evening.
Abafana Bes’thende’s goals came from Pule Mmodi and a brace by Michael Gumede while Junior Mendieta netted Stellies’ consolation goal.
A defensive mix-up by Sibusiso Mthethwa resulted in Mmodi giving Arrows a lead in the 15th minute. That was Mmodi’s fourth league goal this season.
Gumede doubled the lead in the 55th minute scoring his second goal of the season.
Mendieata from Argentina scored from long range to make the score 2-1 in the 62nd minute. That was Mendieta’s second goal this season.
But Gumede was not done as he completed his brace in the 77th minute to make it 3-1.
Meanwhile, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila beat Maritzburg United 1-0 through Thabo Mnyamane’s goal at the Harry Gwala Stadium.
