Simangele ‘Smash’ Hadebe retained her African Boxing Union (ABU) female flyweight title after she beat Tanzanian Stumai Muki Paulo at The Galleria in Sandton, Johannesburg, on Thursday evening.
Hadebe won by a technical knockout after the Tanzanian failed to answer to the bell at the beginning of the fourth round. This was after Muki Paulo from Dar-Es-Salaam dislocated her left shoulder in the third round.
Hadebe, who is also the reigning South African female flyweight champion, was ahead on points after the three rounds.
Meanwhile, Ellen Simwaka from Malawi made a first successful defence of her International Boxing Federation (IBF) Africa female bantamweight title after defeated Zambian Linah Kasweka via a split decision in the main supporting bout.
Clifford Mbelu scored the fight 96-93 for Kasweka while Sylvia Mokaila (97-93) and Jaap van Niewenhuizen (96-93) had Simwaka winning the contest.
