Unbeaten boxer Ronald ‘King’ Malindi has opted to fight for the World Boxing Federation (WBF) bantamweight title than defending his South African belt.

Malindi turned down an offer to defend his SA bantamweight title against Lusizo Manzana and decided to clash with Jorge Luis Orozco Mendoza from Mexico in a WBF fight.

The duel between Malindi and the Mexican is scheduled for the Carnival City in Brakpan, Ekurhuleni, on Sunday, 6 November.

“I’m going to fight for the WBF title at Carnival City in November. I had a challenge from Manzana for my SA tile, but I chose to fight for the WBF title because this is a good opportunity for me. I will fight for any promotions company that gives me an opportunity to fulfil my dreams,” Malindi said.

The 28-year-old Malindi has defended his SA title four times and his last defence was a win over Rofhiwa Nemushungwa in Middelburg in July.

Meanwhile, Mendoza from Guadalajara in Jalisco, Mexico, will go to the Malindi fight following a draw with his homeboy Erick Omar Lopez Garcia in April.

The 26-year-old Mendoza has a professional record of 17 victories (11stoppages), three defeats and two draws.
