Chippa United won’t have time to prepare for their DStv Premiership match against Orlando Pirates, which is set for the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on Saturday (17h00)
Instead, the Chilli Boys are going to rest before going to camp on Friday following their goalless draw with Cape Town City at Mdantsane’s Sisa Dukashe Stadium in East London on Wednesday.
“I don’t think we will train for Pirates. We go home, rest and maybe meet at the hotel on Friday. We will plan properly for this game. It’s gonna be difficult to play Pirates. They have a huge squad and they can change any time. What we need here is the character we showed when we were on the road,” Chilli Boys coach Dan Malesela said.
The Chilli Boys go to the Pirates match following back-to-back matches against the Citizens. They beat the Citizens 2-1 in a Nedbank Cup second round match in Gqeberha on Sunday before they met again on Wednesday.
And Malesela admitted after meeting the Citizens in Mdantsane that that was a difficult game for them.
“Difficult because there is fatigue from a number of players. There is also a character from a lot of our players. Lesson learnt here is that we need to look at what we have as a squad. It teaches me as a person that one needs to have trust the players. I’m happy with the way we are handling ourselves. I’m happy with the point,” Malesela said after the Citizens match.
After facing Pirates, the Chilli Boys are going to return to Mdantsane for a clash against AmaZulu on Wednesday, 10 March.
