It was joy all round as Iran beat Wales 2-0 in a 2022 FIFA World Cup group stages match at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar, on Friday afternoon.
It looked like the match was going to end in a goalless draw until Wales were reduced to 10 men after their goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey was red carded for a foul on Iran striker Mehdi Taremi in the 87th minute.
The Welsh were then forced to sacrifice Aaron Ramsey, who was replaced by reserve goalkeeper Danny Ward.
Having a numerical advantage seemed to motivate the Iranians as they launched attack after attack in search of a goal. They managed to score two late goals by Rouzbeh Cheshmi and Ramin Rezaeian to earn their first win of the tournament.
