The camp of Razell Mohamed in Gqeberha has roped in former world champion Noni Tenge to help her with sparring sessions ahead of next month’s International Boxing Federation (IBF) female heavyweight title fight against Te Arani Moarana ‘Lani’ Daniels.

Dean Lonergan from D & L Events has confirmed that this duel is going to be held at the Eventfinda Stadium, Auckland, New Zealand, on Saturday, 26 August.

Tenge, who is now based in Gqeberha, is a former IBF welterweight, World Boxing Federation (WBF) welterweight and junior-middleweight female champion.

“We’ve got our visas now and we are very happy with everything. We have engaged Noni for sparring and we have agreed with her on how we will work. Her experience is going to be important in our preparations,” Mohamed’s trainer Caiphus Ntante revealed.

The 35-year-old Daniels will be attempting to make a successful first defence of the title she won after she defeated her compatriot Alrie Meleisea in May. Daniels, a former New Zealand light-heavyweight and Australasian heavyweight champion, with eight victories, two defeats and two draws.

Mohamed, who has won three fights and drawn twice, will become the first South African female boxer to fight for a world heavyweight title. Team Mohamed is going to fly out of South Africa for New Zealand on Sunday, 20 August.
