Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt is concerned about the absence of his key strikers going to Saturday’s important CAF Champions League Group C match against Horoya at the General Lasana Conte Stadium in Conakry, Guinea, at 19h00 (21h00, South African time).
Strikers Samir Nurkovic and Leonardo Castro are going to miss the Horoya match. Nurkovic is out suspended after receiving a red card when Amakhosi beat Moroccan side Wydad Athletic Club in Johannesburg last weekend while Castro has a broken nose.
“Obviously, both our strikers are not here. We don’t have a number nine. In these tough conditions you need a number nine to play. Anyway, we will make a plan. We have to plan around and change the team shape a little bit,” Hunt said.
Chiefs, who are third on the Group C table with eight points from five matches, need a win or a scoring draw to advance to the quarter-finals.
“Obviously, if we score a goal it’s gonna put an amount of pressure on them because they will have to score two. So a score draw looks the way to go. Football does not work like that. I will have to see. They haven’t been beaten here the  long time. We are gonna try and score a goal, that’s the important thing,” Hunt said.
Meanwhile, the former Bidvest Wits and SuperSport United coach is grateful that this is going to be an evening match considering the heat in Conakry.
“Thank goodness, it’s a seven o’clock kick off. So to play in the middle of the day both sides would have struggled,” Hunt said.
