Boxing South Africa (BSA) manager in Gauteng Hloks Ramagole has provided an update on national champion Ronald ‘King’ Malindi following his shooting in Westbury, Johannesburg, on Tuesday.
According Ramagole, the unbeaten South African bantamweight champion is still receiving treatment at Helen Joseph Hospital after he was shot twice in the head.
“Kindly note Ronald Malindi our current SA bantamweight champ is still very much alive and fighting for his life in Helen Joseph’s ICU. We humbly request that we have one line of communication in terms of Ronald’s condition/health status,” Ramagole wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday afternoon.
“The family has asked me to be their contact person, so till I update otherwise King Ronald Malindi is in hospital and may we all uplift him in prayer. I am in talks with his family and his better half Monique who is beside him in ICU. She is giving me all the updates so may we refrain from spreading unverified information thank you.”
Having defended the national title four times, Malindi is only one victory away from gaining outright ownership of the SA belt.
