South African boxer Hekkie ‘Hexecutioner’ Budler returned home with glory having won three belts the last time he visited Japan in May 2018.
And Budler is on the hunt yet again as he flew out of South Africa for Japan on Saturday. Budler left South Africa together with his trainer Colin Nathan, assistant trainer Shannon Strydom and cutman Bernie Pailman.
The 35-year-old Budler challenges current World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Association (WBA) ‘Super’ junior-flyweight champion Kenshiro ‘The Amazing Boy’ Teraji at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan, on Monday, 18 September.
Not only will the WBC and WBA titles be at stake during this fight, the two opponents are going to battle it out for the Ring Magazine belt as well.
It was in May 2018 when Budler defeated Japanese boxer Ryoichi Taguchi by a unanimous decision to win the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and WBA ‘Super’ junior-flyweight titles as well as the Ring Magazine belt at the Ota-City General Gymnasium in Tokyo.
