One of South Africa’s most talented boxers Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile is going to showcase his boxing talent in front of an American audience when he fights in the United States in May.
The former South African featherweight champion, who is trained by Mzamo ‘Chief’ Njekanye, meets Martin Ward from the United Kingdom in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-lightweight elimination bout in Las Vegas in America on 29 May. This is the first time Fuzile will fight outside South Africa.
Fuzile’s fight against Ward is on the undercard of American boxer Devin Haney’s defence of his World Boxing Council (WBC) liimghtweight title against Jorge Linares from Venezuela. Tokyo-based Linares is a former WBC and World Boxing Association (WBA) lightweight champion.
The winner of the Fuzile-Ward bout is going to face whoever wins between Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov from Tajikistan and Japanese boxer Kenichi Ogawa.
Rakhimov and Ogawa face each other in a vacant IBF junior-lightweight title fight in July. The title became vacant after American boxer Joseph Diaz lost it on the scales before his drawn fight against Rakhimov in February.
