With the full backing of the Minister of Sport, Zizi Kodwa, while at the same time he’s being antagonised by some pugnacious members of the National Professional Boxing Promoters Association (NPBPA), acting Boxing South Africa (BSA) chief executive officer Mandla Ntlanganiso is going full steam as he’s scheduled to outline his plans and vision for the fistic sport at a press conference on Tuesday next week.

Unprocedurally suspended and never charged for more than four months – an action which violated the Labour Relations Act – last year, Ntlanganiso is now back, not only as the second in command at BSA, but in the driving seat.

Ntlanganiso, who joined BSA as its director of operations in January 2022, is looking at bringing sanity and stability into South African professional boxing.

“I’m returning to the office on Thursday. We will look at a number of things. We will also look at the ratings and sanctioning committees, which are still functioning. We will have a clear wayforward after I have returned to the office,” Ntlanganiso said.

While Ntlanganiso would be outlining his plans and vision, a fight between Kodwa and the belligerent NPBPA is still continuing.

The NPBPA is fighting tooth and nail against Kodwa’s decision to appoint and install a new BSA board, which is led by its chairperson Sifiso Shongwe, Luxolo September, Sakhiwe Sodo, Romy Titus, Princess Mangoma, Nande Mheshe and Dr Mary-Gene Manthata-Setati.
