A date has been set for the funeral of the late South African-born ring official Edward ‘Eddie’ Marshall, who passed away on Friday last week. He was 68.
Mitchell’s Plain-born Marshall, who was the World Boxing Federation (WBF) head of Africa, passed away after battling illness for more than two years. Marshall’s funeral is going to be held on Saturday, 20 January.
An outstanding referee and judge during his time, Marshall officiated in more than 100 world title fights in different countries. The well-travelled Marshall, who was going to celebrate his 69th birthday on Wednesday, officiated in more than 300 fights as a referee, judge and fight supervisor.
