Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan has stressed the importance of fighters following a meeting of Gauteng managers, trainers and boxers at his establishment, Hotbox Gym in Johannesburg on Saturday on Saturday.

The award-winning Nathan, who is the chief trainer at Hotbox Gym, was elected as the chairperson of voluntary managers association in Gauteng.

“I’m absolutely thrilled and honoured to be elected as the chairperson of Gauteng’s voluntary managers association. I also want to congratulate Allan Dillon for being the chairperson of the Western Cape m0anagers association. We’ll walk with the fighters, we will have a positive change for the better for South African boxing,” Nathan said.

With more than 30 Boxing South Africa (BSA) licensees having attended the meeting, Nathan was impressed with the kind of response they got after calling for the get together.

“Very impressive turnout we had. People want change. Boxers need to come first. What I took away from this meeting is that we’re all in alignment that trainers and managers, who were there want fighters to come first,” Nathan said.

“It’s very important, going forward, that we always are aware that the most important person in the whole dynamics of boxing is the fighter. The sport is in crisis moment now which people want to get out of. They want the sport to continue and flourish and that’s one of the objectives why we had the meeting.”
