Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga’s mission to reclaim the International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight title continues as he together with his handlers are set to fly out of South Africa for Mexico this coming Sunday ahead of his fight against Mexican boxer Adrian Curiel Dominguez.
The 25-year-old Nontshinga from East London in the Eastern Cape will attempt to reclaim the IBF title when he challenges Dominguez in Oaxaca, Mexico, on Friday, 16 February (early Saturday morning, South African time).
This fight comes just three months after the 25-year-old Dominguez from Mexico City stunned Nontshinga with a second round stoppage in Monaco in November last year.
Nontshinga is scheduled to leave for the Central American country together with his trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan, his dad Thembani ‘Best’ Gopheni and Bernie Pailman.
Meanwhile, Nontshinga returns to Mexico less than two years since he defeated Mexican boxer Hector Flores Calixto by a split decision to win the IBF title in Hermosillo in September 2022.
