It looks like things are about to fall into place for the handlers of Duncan Village boxer Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile.
The boxer’s trainer Mzamo ‘Chief’ Njekanye, his assistant Yanga Gingxana and Rumble Africa Promotions (RAP) chairman Teris Ntutu have an appointment at the United States Embassy in Cape Town on Thursday.
The trio need visas so that they can accompany Fuzile to the US where he’s going to fight against Briton Martin Ward in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-lightweight elimination bout at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, 29 May.
“We are a little bit relieved now. We have an appointment at the American Embassy on Thursday. This is a move in the right direction. It looks like all the interventions from different corners are bearing fruits,” Njekanye said.
Njekanye admitted that not getting the visas was frustrating him and he couldn’t concentrate properly on his work of training Fuzile.
“At least, we can see the light now. Truth be told, I was beginning to lose hope,” Njekanye said on Tuesday.
Njekanye, Gingxana and Ntutu are going to fly to the Mother City on Wednesday for Thursday’s meeting.
