There’s a likelihood that Phumelela ‘The Truth’ Cafu might relinquish the South African junior-bantamweight title as he will fiercely embark in an international campaign with chances of fighting for a world crown getting higher.
The 25-year-old Cafu joined Johannesburg-based boxing trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan and NO DOUBT Management on Friday.
“We are still going to sit down and decide about the SA title. We are going to map the way forward,” Nathan said.
Cafu from Duncan Village won the SA title after he stopped Enathi Stelle in 26 seconds during their clash at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) in December last year.
He is rated 11th by the World Boxing Council (WBC), seventh by the World Boxing Association (WBA), fourth in the International Boxing Federation (IBF) ratings and is third in the World Boxing Organisation (WBO). – Monwabisi Jimlongo
