The waiting continues for the handlers of world title hopeful Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile in their bid to get an all clear so that they can travel to the United States.
Trainer Mzamo ‘Chief’ Njekanye and his assistant Yanga Gingxana as well as Rumble Africa Promotions (RAP) chairman Teris Ntutu went for interviews at the US Embassy in Cape Town on Thursday hoping to get American visas, which would pave the way for them to accompany Fuzile when he leaves for the US ahead of his International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior-lightweight elimination bout against Briton Martin Ward.
Njekanye, Gingxana and Ntutu are going to get a feedback from the US Embassy on Friday.
Fuzile’s fight against Ward is going to be held at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, 29 May.
The winner of this fight will challenge whoever wins between Tajikistan boxer Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov and Kenichi Ogawa from Japan. Rakhimov and Ogawa are due to collide in July.
The Fuzile-Ward bout is on the undercard of World Boxing Council (WBC) lightweight champion Devin Haney’s defence against Tokyo-based Venezuelan Jorge Linares.
