South Africa won her first gold medal at the Paris Olympics in France as Tatjana Smith romped home in the women’s 100-metre breaststroke at the Paris la Defence Arena pool on Monday evening.
This was a great improvement for the 27-year-old Smith, who won a silver medal in the same discipline at the Tokyo Olympics in Japan three years ago.
Johannesburg-born Smith came home with a gold medal in the 200m breaststroke from the Tokyo Games.
