South African Football Association (SAFA) president Danny Jordaan has congratulated league championship-winning Mamelodi Sundowns.
The bullish Brazilians won the DStv Premiership title following a 3-1 win over SuperSport United in Pretoria on Wednesday evening. They have collected 60 points from 27 games.
Sundowns, who are left with three matches before they end the season, made history by becoming the first South African team to win league titles in four successive seasons.
“I would like to congratulate the club for a great season in which they participated in various tournaments and still come out tops in the marathon league campaign,” Jordaan said.
“Well done to the players, the technical and support staff. One thing for sure is that these players are battle hardened and we expect them to once more do the country proud in the CAF Champions League competition.”
This is the 11th league title that the Tshwane giants have won since the inception of the PSL in 1996.
