Three South African female fight officials Namhla Tyuluba, Thando Xamlashe and Duduzile Dlamini are off to the African Boxing Union (ABU) convention in Kampala, Uganda.

The convention is going to take place at the Africana Hotel in Kampala starting on Sunday, 18 August and will come to an end on Friday next week.

Tyuluba is the most experienced of the three officials having been an amateur boxer before venturing into officiating. She has officiated in 140 bouts as a judge and 59 as a referee since she started in June 2015.

As an amateur boxer, Tyuluba was trained by the late trainer, manager and promoter Mzimasi Mnguni in Mdantsane.

Xamlashe, on the other hand, has followed on the footsteps of her late dad Sazi Xamlashe, an accomplished ring official who sadly passed away in January 2022. Xamlashe has officiated in 62 bouts as a judge since she made her officiating debut in June 2022.

Meanwhile, Dlamini is an up and coming official who entered the officiating space in July 2023 and has officiated as a judge in 21 bouts.
