The vacant International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior-flyweight title contest between Mpumelelo Tshabalala and Junior Leandre Zarate from Argentina, which was set for Saturday, 31 August, has been postponed until next month.
The postponement of the tournament was announced by Xaba Promotions on its Facebook page early on Saturday morning. The tournament is now going to be held on Saturday, 14 September.
“Please receive this as an official postponement of our event scheduled for the 31st of August. Upon being requested by our broadcasting partner to consider moving our event because of the Paralympics,” the message said.
The Paralympics are scheduled to start on 31 August and end of Sunday, 8 September, in Paris, France.
“We elected with all the directly affected teams to proceed with the 14th of September,” the message read.
