In a fight which will once again divide the East London boxing community, Malaki Sobolo from Duncan Village has vowed to end Siyakholwa Kuse’s reign as the South African minimumweight champion.

Sobolo challenges Kuse from Mdantsane at a tournament, which is co-promoted by Kay B Promotions and Last Born Boxing Promotions, and set for the Orient Theatre in East London next Sunday.

Kuse will be attempting to make a successful first defence of the title he recaptured when he dominated Bangile Nyangani at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) in July last year.

“I’m going there to take the title away from Kuse. There’s nothing special about Kuse. He doesn’t scare me at all. His days as a champion are numbered,” Sobolo said.

The 28-year-old Sobolo, who is trained by Phila Mzamo, will go to battle against Kuse on the back of a points win over Phumlani Maloni. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
