Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos announced a preliminary squad for next month’s two 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Uganda and South Sudan.

And Vitesse Arnhem forward Simon van Duivenbooden, who is 22 years old, has made it into Broos’ preliminary squad.

Van Duivenbooden was born in Uithoorn, Netherlands and he became eligible to play for Bafana by virtue of his father having been born in South Africa.  

The squad: 

Ronwen Williams, Bruce Bvuma, Ricardo Goss, Veli Mothwa, Sipho Chaine, Khuliso Mudau, Terrence Mashego, Nyiko Mobbie, Thabiso Monyane, Thapelo Morena, Rushwin Dortley, Nkosinathi Sibisi, Aubrey Modiba, Athenkosi Mcaba, Given Msimango, Fawaaz Basadien, Siyabonga Ngezana, Grant Kekana, Teboho Mokoena, Relebohile Mofokeng, Grant Margeman, Jayden Adams, Bathusi Aubaas,  Sphephelo Sithole, Thalente Mbatha, Mihlali Mayambela, Luke le Roux, Themba Zwane, Devin Titus, Oswin Appollis, Patrick Maswanganyi, Elias Mokwana, Simon van Duivenvooden, Iqraam Rayners, Thapelo Maseko, Lyle Foster, Evidence Makgopa and Percy Tau.
