AmaZulu coach Benni McCarthy is proud to be one of the nominees for the Coach of the Season award.
McCarthy is competing for the top prize against Lamontville Golden Arrows’ Mandla Ncikazi as well as Mamelodi Sundowns duo Manqoba Mngqithi and Rulani Mokwena.
The former Bafana Bafana forward has done a fantastic job at Usuthu leading them to the top four in the DStv Premiership.
“I think it’s a proud moment for the club. We should all take credit. It’s not just one person’s hard work. The whole team, the technical team, the players and everyone has contributed to me being able to stand in front and represent the club in this award,” McCarthy said.
McCarthy arrived at Usuthu last December and transformed them into a formidable outfit. Usuthu are second on the Premiership table with 50 points from 28 games.
“I’m grateful and I’m also very appreciative for the opportunity that has been given to me to be able to do what I love. To work with players day to day, improving them as individuals. It’s always nice when your hard work is recognised. I would also like to congratulate all the other coaches, not just the ones that have been nominated,” McCarthy said.
All the deserving individuals are going to be rewarded at an awards ceremony, which is going to beheld on Sunday, 6 June at 20h00.
