Temba Bavuma is back and is going to lead the Proteas in Test matches against Sri Lanka in Durban and Gqeberha later this month and early December.

Bavuma was cleared for selection following a fitness test on Monday as he has recovered from a left elbow injury that sidelined him during the recent Test tour of Bangladesh.

Bavuma was in the 14-player squad for the two upcoming Tests, which was announced by red ball coach Shukri Conrad on Tuesday.

All-rounder Marco Jansen and fast bowler Gerald Coetzee return to the Test set-up for the first time since the series against India last summer with Kagiso Rabada, Western Province paceman Dane Paterson and Lions all-rounder Wiaan Mulder completing the pace attack.

Meanwhile, Keshav Maharaj and Warriors’ Senuran Muthusamy have been named as the two frontline spinners for the series.

The first match of the tour is set to begin on Wednesday, 27 November until Sunday, 1 December at Kingsmead Stadium in Durban.

The squad will then travel to Gqeberha for the second Test, which is set to start on Thursday, 05 December, at St George’s Park.
