Relebohile Mofokeng won the Sports Personality of the Year award at the Gauteng Sports Awards function held at the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, on Sunday evening.
The 20-year-old Orlando Pirates star beat Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams, two-time Olympic gold medallist Tatjana Smith, Olympic silver medallist Akani Simbine and UFC middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis to the award.
Meanwhile, championship-winning Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies team walked away with the Sports Team of the Year award.
