With Siyakholwa Kuse having defected to the Brian Mitchell Boxing Academy from All Winners Boxing Club soon after he defeated one of the club’s top boxers Beavan Sibanda last December, most boxing followers’ eyes are going to be on him this month.

Kuse is scheduled to face off against Filipino boxer Samuel Salva in his first fight under a new trainer and management. This fight is going to take place at the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park on Saturday, 31 May.

And his trainer Vusi Mtolo has declared that boxing lovers will see a different Kuse on fight night even though he has admitted that the Mdantsane-born boxer has not lost his East London tricks of fighting.

“He’s doing very well at training. He’s got more power now than before. We have taught him about how to be more careful after having landed a punch,” Mtolo said.

“Kuse knows how to quickly move away from his opponent. People are going to see a new Kuse on the 31st of May. Kuse has also not abandoned his tsotsi East London style of boxing. We want him to continue with that.”

Kuse, who turns 26 on the 19th of May, said about his upcoming fight: “There’s a lot of things that are happening at training. I have watched Salva’s fights on YouTube and I don’t think he’s gonna give me problems. He’s gonna get a tough challenge and I’m ready for him.”

Kuse will go to the fight carrying a professional record of eight wins with four stoppages, two losses and a draw. On the other hand, Salva has 14 knockouts from 21 wins and two losses. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
