Michael Head’s vacant South African light-heavyweight title fight against Bryan Thysse in less than three weeks’ time is going ahead as planned.

There were doubts about this fight after it was said that Head had not renewed his licence with Boxing South Africa (BSA). However, it turned out that that was a misunderstanding as Head has renewed his licence and his fight against Thysse is set for the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, on Saturday, 31 May.

“That fight is going ahead. There was a misunderstanding and I asked Jeff (Ellis) who told me that Head has renewed his licence,” Golden Gloves managing director Rodney Berman, who’s going to promote the fight, confirmed.
