Two promotional outfits, one in East London and the other in Johannesburg, have signed a pact, which will see them collaborating in future boxing tournaments.

Last Born Boxing Promotions, which was represented by Mlandeli Tengimfene, and Brad Norman’s Warrior Ascent Promotions have revealed that they will, in future, do co-promotion of tournaments in East London.

Already, four of Norman’s boxers – Mayamiko Mozland, Khulakahle Dlamini, Bekizizwe Maitse and Michael Adesodun – are training in East London under the watchful eye of former International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-bantamweight and World Boxing Organisation (WBO) bantamweight champion Zolani ‘Last Born’ Tete. The boxers have been in East London for three weeks now.

“We are establishing a relationship between Last Born Boxing Promotions and Warrior Ascent Promotions. We intend to do tournaments, which we will co-promote,” Tengimfene said.

Norman, who is in charge at the WBC Gym in downtown Johannesburg, said: “We are going to co-promote together. I want their promotion to be active. I also want my boxers to be active as well because East London has good boxers, who will fight against mine.”

Meanwhile, Mozland who goes by the moniker ‘Tyson’ campaigns in the junior-welterweight division and is scheduled to fight in Cape Town on Saturday, 2 August.

On the other hand, Maitse is set to fight in the quarter-finals of the WBC Grand Prix in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, next month. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
