It’s going to be action galore as professional boxing is back again at The Galleria Events Venue in Sandton, Johannesburg, on Friday evening, starting at 19h00.

The nine-bout tournanent is headlined by a vacant International Boxing Organisation (IBO) All-Africa middleweight title contest between Cristiano Ndombassy and Patrick Mukala.

Strand-based Ndombassy, who is originally from Luanda in Angola, goes to the Mukala fight on the back of a win over Darrin Rossouw in October last year. Ndombassy has notched 14 wins with 11 knockouts and eight losses.

On the other hand, Mukala is on a five-fight winning streak and he last fought when he defeated Ronald Ellis at the Box Camp Booysens in September. Mukala from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has a professional record of 16 victories with 14 stoppages, two defeats and a draw.

Meanwhile, two former South African champions Ayabonga Sonjica and Sabelo Ngebiyane, who are both from the Eastern Cape will also fight in the same bill.

After being in active for almost three years, Sonjica, an erstwhile SA junior-featherweight titlist, will be fighting for the third time this year. The Duncan Village-born Sonjica won his last two fights with points and a stoppage.

And Ngebiyane, a former national junior-bantamweight champion from Komani, lost to Kaya Mlata at the V and A Waterfront, Cape Town, late in April.
