Lonwabo Sizani might have beaten all his five opponents, but he is still far from being a finished product as he’s sweating buckets at the gym, preparing for his next fight, which is against Ahmed Abdul Mangula from Tanzania in two months’ time.
That Sizani is still far from being a complete boxer was said by his trainer Mzi Dintsi, a former South African junior-bantamweight champion, ahead of the boxer’s World Boxing Council (WBC) Youth Silver junior-lightweight title contest against Mangula at the Guild Theatre in East London on Saturday, 4 April.
“We didn’t have much rest and we are back at training. And as part of our preparations for the fight, we have already watched videos of some of our opponent’s fights,” Dintsi said.
Even though Sizani is yet to lose or draw in the paid ranks, Dintsi strongly believes that his charge still has some flaws, which they are busy attending to in an effort to make sure that he’s ready by the time he squares up against Mangula.
“We want Lonwabo to improve defensively. We also don’t want him to think he’s the only one who’s got the right to throw punches when he’s fighting. He needs to understand that his opponent is also capable of hitting him,” Dintsi remarked.
The fight against the Tanzanian will pit two boxers who are yet to lose with Sizani having won all his five fights with stoppages while Mangula has four wins with three knockouts and a draw. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
