Even though the camp of Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga is still mum about the date of his rematch against Regie ‘The Phenomenon’ Suganob, a Filipino boxing promoter has revealed that the fight will take place in three months’ time.

According to Floriezyl Podot, Nontshinga and Suganob are going to meet in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight elimination bout in September.

“The fight is going to be held here in the Philippines on September 12,” Suganob’s promoter Podot from PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions revealed.

Nontshinga defeated Suganob by a unanimous decision when they met for the first time in an IBF junior-flyweight title defence at the International Convention Centre (ICC), KuGompo City, early in July 2023. The judges were Filipino Gil Robiego Co (116-111), Frenchman Jerome Lades (116-111) and his compatriot Ammar Sakraoui (117-110).

Two-time world champion Nontshinga, 27, is fifth in the IBF ratings and is rated 15th by the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) while the 28-year-old Suganob is two places above him in the IBF ratings, fifth in the World Boxing Council (WBC) and second in the WBO. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
