Abdul-Aziz Kunert regards himself as an uncrowned South African champion as he is preparing to fight against Asanda Gingqi in a vacant SA featherweight title contest.
The two unbeaten boxers have a date at the Booysens Boxing Gym in Johannesburg on Sunday, 26 September.
“I’m relieved now that a date has been set. I thank God for this opportunity. It’s long overdue, l have been patient,” Kunert said.
The confident 27-year-old boxer from Cape Town, who is trained by Colin Nathan at Hot Box Gym in Johannesburg, has said that he doesn’t take fights, which he is not sure of winning.
“If l could be asked to rate my chances of winning I would say 10 out of 10. In this industry you don’t take a fight which you know you will lose. I took this fight because I know I’m going to win it,” he said.
Kunert’s fight against Gingqi is going to be promoted by the Gauteng Boxing Promoters Association (GBPA).
