The Wallabies scored a bonus point win when they beat the Springboks 30-17 in a Rugby Championship match at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Saturday morning.
This was the second time in less than a week that the Wallabies beat the Boks having defeated them 28-26 last Sunday.
Things started to go wrong for the Boks when they were reduced to 14 men after referee Matthew Carley yellow carded Faf de Klerk in the 13th minute.
Immediately after De Klerk’s ejection from the field, the Wallabies scored their first try through Len Ikitau following missed tackles by Handre Pollard and Marvin Orie. The ever reliable Quade Cooper missed the conversion.
Four minutes later, the Boks were awarded a penalty and Pollard converted to make it 5-3. The Wallabies continued to push forward and Ikitau scored his second try of the match. Cooper converted this time around.
The match became an interesting affair and the Boks were awarded a penalty, which was converted by Pollard in the 27th minute.
On the half hour mark, Cooper added three more points after converting a penalty.
The Boks got another penalty and Pollard converted in the 32nd minute.
Lachlan Swinton left the field in the 33rd minute after Carley gave him a yellow card following a tackle on Duane Vermeulen.
Three minutes before half time, Pollard converted another penalty after Carley had penalised the Wallabies for an offside.
The Boks started the second half with more purpose taking the fight to the Australians. The intense pressure they applied resulted in Lukhanyo Am scoring their first try of the match in the 42nd minute. Pollard, who had had success, missed the conversion.
The Wallabies regained the lead when Cooper converted another penalty in the 51st minute. Marika Koroibete scored Wallabies’ third try in the 62nd minute and Cooper converted.
Koroibete completed his brace in the 68th minute and Cooper missed for the second time in this match.
