Border Ladies captain Lusanda Dumke is happy after she walked away with the Most Improved Player award at the Bright Rock Player’s Choice awards on Thursday.
The 25-year-old Dumke won the award following splendid performances for the Border Ladies and the Springboks Women’s side.
“It means a lot to me as an individual player, but it also means a lot to professional women’s rugby as a whole,” Dumke remarked.
“This victory, in my opinion, demonstrates that we, as South Africa’s women’s professional rugby team, are doing a fantastic job. We are grateful for all the wonderful support we have received in recent months.”
Originally from Centane in the Eastern Cape, Dumke was appointed Springboks Women’s captain recently. This was after she had led the Border Ladies to Women’s Premier Division glory following a win over Western Province.
