Ethiopian long distance runner Guye Adola won the Berlin Marathon in 2:05;45 in his fourth attempt in the German capital on Sunday.
The 30-year-old Adola from Adola in Ethiopia beat off stiff competition from Kenyan Bethwel Yegon, who came second, and third-placed Ethiopian Kenenisa Bekele. Ethiopian Samuel Abate finished fourth while Cosmas Muteti from Kenya came fifth.
Meanwhile, Ethiopian female athlete Gotytom Gebreslase won the women’s race finishing in 2:20,09 on debut.
