Prince Dlomo has revealed that he was not feeling well when he fought against Siseko ‘Majayivana’ Makeleni at the Booysens Boxing Gym in Johannesburg on Sunday evening.
Dlomo made a successful first defence of his South African junior-welterweight title with a split decision win over Makeleni.
“I prepared enough for this fight and Makeleni fought hard. I fought against someone I didn’t know before we stepped inside the ring,” Dlomo said.
“I was not feeling well when I was fighting and I don’t know what was happening with me. But I pushed myself and fought Makeleni, who was a worthy challenger. He gave me a good fight.”
Mthatha-born Makeleni was the third boxer from the Eastern Cape to lose to Dlomo between now and October last year. Dlomo from Pietermaritzburg defeated two Eastern Cape boxers – Xolisani ‘Nomeva’ Ndongeni and Xolani ‘Tiger’ Mcotheli in October and March respectively.
“I won’t mind fighting against Makeleni again should he ask for a rematch. Actually, I’m available to fight against whoever is ready to face me,” Dlomo concluded.
