A purse bid of $105,000 (about R1,5 million) by Richard Schaefer’s Probellum has won the right to stage Johnriel Casimero’s title defence against mandatory challenger Paul Butler.
It is believed that the fight is going to be held either in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, or Liverpool in England on 11 December.
The 32-year-old Casimero from the Philippines has defended the WBO belt twice since dethroning Zolani ‘Last Born’ Tete in November 2019. His last fight was a win over Cuban Guillermo Rigondeaux in August.
On the other hand, Butler is a former International Boxing Federation (IBF) bantamweight champion. The 32-year-old Butler from the United Kingdom was stopped by Tete when he challenged the Mdantsane boxer in an IBF junior-bantamweight title fight in March 2015.
