Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos knows how important Tuesday’s 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia is.

Bafana Bafana face Ethiopia for the second time in as many days with this encounter set for the FNB Stadium in Nasrec, Johannesburg, at 18h00.

Broos’ boys go to this game following a 3-1 away win over the Walias in Bahir Dar last Saturday.

“We play an important game and we know that if we win and we are a little bit lucky something happens in the other game, we can have more points in front of the opponents,” Broos said referring to Zimbabwe’s home match against Ghana.

The Zimbabwe Warriors meet Ghana’s Black Stars at the National Sports Stadium in Harare at 15h00 on Tuesday.

“Maybe a victory against Zimbabwe here can give us the first place. On the other side, we don’t have to be nervous about that,” Broos said.

The former Cameroon national team coach understands and know that the Walias can be difficult at times.

“We know from the game of Saturday that we play against a strong opponent, good playing team. But Saturday as I said to the guys during half time we don’t need a trophy of beauty, we just need to win that game. We did that with the right mentality, with character and that’s something that made me very happy,” Broos remarked.

“It will be a different game. We played on a very, very bad pitch and I don’t understand if you’ve got a good team like Ethiopia you let them play on such a bad pitch, but it’s okay, it’s their problem.”
