Former world champion Xolisani ‘Nomeva’ Ndongeni is happy to share the stage with his ‘older’ brother Zolani ‘Last Born’ Tete.

This is the second time that Tete and Ndongeni share the same stage as the two gladiators face opponents from the Philippines at the Emnotweni Casino in Nelspruit on Saturday, 11 December.

Ndongeni, a former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) lightweight champion, clashes with Sonny Katiandagho while Tete faces Jelbirt Gomera.

“It’s nice that we are going to fight in the same tournament. This is the second time this is happening,” Ndongeni said.

“He was the main bout and I fought in the main supporting bout. It’s gonna be the same thing again as he is the main bout and I’m the main supporting bout. I’m sure boxing fans are looking forward to this tournament.”

It was in September 2015 when Ndongeni and Tete fought in the same bill. Ndongeni stopped Argentine boxer Miguel Angel Escalada and Tete scored a technical knockout victory in a fight against Diuhl Olguin from Mexico.

This is going to be Ndongeni’s third fight this year while Tete, a former International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-bantamweight and World Boxing Organisation (WBO) bantamweight titlist, will be fighting for the first time since he was dethroned by Filipino boxer Johnriel Casimero in November 2019.
