Reigning South African junior-lightweight champion Phila Mpontshane’s long inactivity will come to an end when he fights against Sibusiso Zingange in Johannesburg on Sunday, 12 December.
This comes after the SA champion finally signed a contract to defend his title against Zingange. Mpontshane, who last fought when he lost to Khanyile Bulana in September 2019, signed the contract on Thursday.
Initially, Zingange’s handlers submitted a challenge form to Boxing South Africa (BSA) in August. But BSA rejected the challenge because Zingange had lost his last two fights at the time. Now Zingange is eligible to clash against Mpontshane after he defeated Anthony Maloisane in September. The fight between Mpontshane and Zingange is going to be promoted by Soweto Boxing Promotions.
